Capital Campaign

WE NEED YOU!
The power to build Barry County’s first independent hospice home lies in your hands and the hands of your friends and network. Please consider a contribution or pledge today and help your community build a home for terminally ill hospice patients to live out their final days in peace and dignity, surrounded by those they love!
A Time to Give
The vision and plan for Serenity Village is sound. The next phase of this amazing project requires intentional action and commitment from our community. Through our capital campaign— A Time to Build—we are seeking $2 million in community philanthropy to help build Serenity Village. No donation is too small. Each and every gift will be used to meet the projected costs of this invaluable community resource. Together, we will work hard and dig deep as a caring community to build the dream of an independent hospice home to serve our families, friends, neighbors and loved ones.
goal: $500,000

How You Can Help
A gift of financial support to build Serenity Village is a wonderful way to leave a legacy. You may choose to make a lasting memorial gift in honor of a loved one, or simply remain anonymous while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Individuals, corporations, foundations, and families/estates who choose to donate to help us achieve this important campaign goal can give in the following ways:
a one-time gift (cash, check or credit card)
a multi-year pledge commitment (may be paid over a three-year period)
a gift of appreciated assets (i.e. stock)
an estate gift
company matching opportunities
The first step is to simply complete a Pledge Card or contact our Executive Director, Tom DeVault by email: director@serenitybc.org
Serenity Village is a tax-exempt 501c3 nonprofit organization. Your charitable gift is tax deductible to the full extent of state and federal law. Our tax-exempt number is 47-2218956. Please check with your tax advisor to determine how your gift may affect your personal tax situation.
Dear Friends,
For many years, a group of community leaders has dreamed of bringing an independent hospice residence to Barry County for terminally ill patients to spend their final days. Currently, families with loved ones who are dying and for whom they can no longer provide care must travel to other communities for hospice care in a residential setting. This is difficult for patients and for families as travel and distance become an additional burden during a very difficult season of life.
As a result, planning for a six-bed hospice house—Serenity Village— in our region has been ongoing for several years. We’ve made remarkable progress in a short time, including:
- Acquiring land for the facility through a generous donation by Al and Pam Jarvis
- Visiting with other regional hospice houses to determine the best practices for the operation of Serenity Village
- Working with architects to design a comfortable and efficient space that will best serve our community
- Securing several lead gifts to this effort
As our community ages and more local citizens face end-of-life decisions, we believe it is critically important to provide quality care for the terminally ill when staying at home becomes impractical or impossible. To that end, we have recently initiated A Time to Build— a $2 million fundraising campaign to build Serenity Village. In the coming months, members of our Campaign Cabinet will be seeking the support of individuals, families, local businesses and area foundations.
As a result of this effort and in partnership with our friends and supporters, Serenity Village—with its trained staff—will provide a local residential setting where dying patients can continue in the care of their family and their own hospice caregivers. Please join us in supporting this impactful campaign—A Time to Build—as we seek to offer a place for peace and comfort to area patients and their families during their most difficult times.
Sincerely,

Campaign Cabinet
