An independent palliative care facility does not currently exist in Barry County, making logistics of travel difficult for area families. Serenity Village of Barry County will allow local families the option to utilize this facility, instead of at-home services or facilities in another county.
Palliative care is specialized medical care for people with serious illness. It focuses on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family. Often these services become necessary when a loved one is nearing the end of life.
Serenity Village of Barry County is a non-profit organization that relies on donations from individuals, corporations, foundations, and families/estates who choose to donate. While there is no cost for patient use of the facility, all medical care will be provided by external palliative care providers, arranged by the family of the patient.
